Grande Opening Show

Artist Statement

The inaugural show at the new location of Rose Squared Gallery & Framing,  is dedicated to my own personal expressionistic series, "Appassionato."

Each painting in the  series was painted to reflect the emotions of a particular moment in time but as a group have a much larger meaning.  Much like a multi-layered symphony ebbs and flows, the paintings are meant to tell a story made up of individual parts that come together and create a lyrical continuity.

The original broad, black on white, brushstrokes were all completed in one night, fifteen in total.  They were then refined over the next few days with color to enhance the impact of each as an individual painting, and to bring out its unique quality of feeling.

Please come by the gallery and see them in person.

Thank you,

JD Isaacs

Presentation

Framing for 'Appassionato" is in keeping with the pieces themselves; simple but elegant.  The frames are by Larson-Juhl, deep, satin-finish black with a wide bevel in just the right weight to balance the bold brushstrokes of the paintings.  The 4" matting expands the background of the paintings and is accented with a black bevel accent.  All framing products used are archival to conserve the quality of the artwork.

 "Con Fuoco"
A musical term meaning 'with fire.'
Framed size 38"x 49"
