RECYCLED                   ART PROJECT

ROSE Squared has transformed the gallery into a showing of artworks using recycled materials and objects. There are magical works of art to behold made from ordinary and extraordinary materials...  Sculpture from melted down metal car parts turned into  sophisticated sea turtles and birds in flight, by re-knowned  metal artist, Ivan Bailey.  We are making use of broken musical instruments donated by Emil Baran's Music Showroom, and bringing them back to nature by de-constructing them and putting them back together in a whole new way, as shown below.  There are throw-away frames turned into beautiful mirrors and sofa trays, and works created from 18th century rice paper practice caligraphy sheets.  Much of the backgrounds and mat boards are also recycled products made from packaging materials and wrappings.

Please come by and see what can be done from re-imagining what would ordinarily be thrown away and forgotten.
 'Reclamation with Violin'  JD Isaacs        13"x36"  a violin that was beyond repair and use as a musical instrument was 'reclaimed' by nature in this piece. The background was also recycled from packing materials overpainted with acrylic paint and satin varnish. Polymer clay was used to create the vines and leaves.

'Sofa Tray' by JD Isaacs,... this piece of  functional art was made from an old frame that was brought in to re-frame the art it held. The frame was renovated and re-sealed and woven suede was placed beneath the glass. The handles are Indian brass elephants with the backing of natural linen.

Rose Squared Gallery           & Framing

Considered the 'best little frame shop in town,'  I have expanded to a new downtown Decatur location on the Old Courthouse Square.  The most exciting news though, is that it has given me the space for a gallery to feature prominent and upcoming artists and a classroom to teach painting in watercolor and drawing.  It also allows me the opportunity to show my own paintings and drawings.  I hope everyone comes by to say hello and look around.

What I Do

My  philosophy is simple and clear:  Every piece that is brought to me is special to my customer.  I enjoy taking the time to help you choose just the right framing for your artwork, photos, diplomas, whatever you bring in for expert treatment. My reward is the smile (usually the BIG smile) on your face as you leave with your newly framed work of art.

 I believe my customers enjoy the experience of Rose Squared and walk away feeling confident in my design advice to help you choose.  My moulding choices are top quality and the most diverse on the market.  Most are hand finished in Italy, the country where the tradition of framing began.  Larson-Juhl and Roma are my two most requested suppliers.  To carry the project to completion, I stock only the best in framing materials with all archival products to help protect your pieces for long life within their new setting.

 The Gallery just as you enter the shop is my new baby.  I try to offer a peaceful open space with beautiful works to sell without my visitors being pummeled  with visual overload.  You can relax, sit and ponder on a comfortable sofa or chair while you're looking around.  

Occasionally, you might even see my little dog too...

I am very accessibly located 1/2 block off Ponce de Leon directly in front of the Old Courthouse on Clairemont Avenue.  The red awning with the big 'square rose'  logo is  unmistakable .  Emile Baran's Music Showroom sits right next door with a metered parking lot in front and just across the street.
